1962	Born in Berlin in1962, Susan Hefuna grew up in Egypt, Germany, and Austria.
1992	She completed a postgraduate degree in multimedia at the Institut für Neue Medien, Städelschule, Frankfurt, where she studied under artist, curator, and theoretician Peter Weibel.

スーザン・ヘフナは、1962年にドイツで生まれた。エジプト人の父とドイツ人の母の間に生まれた彼女は、エジプト、ドイツ、オーストリアで育ちました。
ヘフナはエジプトとドイツという異なる文化圏での生活や経験をもとに、ドローイング、ファブリック、ビデオ、パフォーマンス、写真、彫刻、インスタレーションなどの多様なメディアで作品を制作しています。
抽象的なイメージや記号、糸で縫いあわされた多重構造、イスラム建築で伝統的なマシュラビーヤ文様、ときには身体の動きが作品に取り込まれ、異なる文化と伝統を横断しながら私たちにイメージの意味を問いかけます。
主にヨーロッパを中心に活躍し、すでに海外ではMoMA (NY, 2010)やThe New Museum (NY, 2014)、Guggenheim Museum (NY, 2016 and Abu Dhabi, 2017)、Centre Pompidou, Paris (2020)での展示やパフォーマンスを行なっています。また、The Contemporary Drawing Prize of the Daniel & Florence Guerlain Art Foundationin (Paris, 2013)の受賞など国際的な評価を得ています。　
日本での初めての展覧会となる本展では、多様なヘフナの制作の柱となっている重要な3つの要素「ドローイング」「ファブリック」「ビデオ」に焦点を当てます。レイヤー構造で透明感のあるドローイング作品、エジプト綿に刺繍を施したタペストリー作品、また代表的なビデオ作品を展示しました。
